Accessibility statement

Our commitment

A learning platform that some people cannot use is not a learning platform. Accessibility is treated as part of the definition of done for every component: each one specifies its keyboard behaviour, its focus behaviour and its assistive-technology behaviour before it is built, not after.

This statement was last reviewed on 4 September 2026 and applies to the public marketing site and the learning application.

What conforms today

• Every interactive control is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator that meets the 3:1 contrast requirement.
• Dialogs, drawers and sheets trap focus while open, close on Escape, and return focus to the control that opened them.
• The whole interface honours prefers-reduced-motion. Scroll-triggered content resolves to its final state rather than never appearing.
• Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. Status is always paired with an icon and a word; chart series carry a legend and direct labels.
• Every chart has an equivalent data table, reachable from the same control.
• Body text meets 4.5:1 against its background in both themes; large text and UI components meet 3:1.
• Video content ships with captions and a full transcript; the transcript is searchable.
• Form fields have persistent labels, and errors are announced with role="alert" and tied to the field with aria-describedby.
• Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels, including small icon buttons, which carry an expanded hit area.
• Horizontal carousels are keyboard-scrollable regions; arrow buttons are a pointer convenience, not the only route.

Known limitations

Stating these is more useful than claiming full conformance.

• Drag-and-drop in the course builder

  Reordering by drag is pointer and touch only. Every drag action has a keyboard equivalent (move up, move down, duplicate, delete) exposed as buttons on each row, so the task is completable — but the drag gesture itself is not keyboard-operable. A full keyboard drag mode is planned.

• The comparison slider on the homepage

  Operable with arrow keys and exposed as role="slider" with a value text. On very narrow screens it is replaced entirely with a stacked layout rather than being shrunk.

• Third-party embedded content

  Where a customer embeds SCORM packages authored elsewhere, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of that content. We surface a warning to authors at upload time.

If something on Polaris stops you doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it — including the small things. Email hello@polaris.learning with the page and what happened. We acknowledge within two working days and tell you what we are going to do about it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the relevant enforcement body in your jurisdiction. We will not treat that as an adversarial step.
